A bit of risk in play lets children test their limits, as experts explain in this video. When children come across risky play situations, it challenges them to learn new skills. You can support your child through these situations with encouragement and advice. And with practice, children gain the skills and confidence they need to handle risks and challenges by themselves. This is why risk in play is important for child development.
Have a great holiday with a few risks - and no hazards :) Kindergarten students have been busy in the iCentre working on KidPix on the computers to generate some amazing pictures using solid shapes. It takes a lot of skill to manipulate the mouse - clicking, dragging, re-sizing and manipulating objects - something many of them are new to, as most use touch screens at home. Thanks Mr George! We had a fabulous walking excursion with Bernadette Davis (Flea), from Eurobodalla Shire Council on Wednesday. We followed the storm water drains from our school, through the streets, down the laneways all the way to the sanctuary at Candlagan creek. Ask your child what a sanctuary is, and why it is SO important for us to keep rubbish out of our drains. The children were all absolute super stars on the walk and are proud eco-warriors! Enjoy the video below 😊 We thoroughly enjoyed a special day last week where all of our learning was NAIDOC specific. We learned through stories, sang stories, dramatised stories, coloured stories, and even cooked through a story! Take a look at our 3 minute video to get a glimpse of our day. Well it rained on Wednesday and again today on Friday, but wow, what a marvellous winter day it was yesterday for our whole school athletics carnival! Students from K-2 joined the rest of the school in the traditional march past with their house group. This is a wonderful feeling of belonging for all, and great team spirit. They then had an absolute blast rotating around fun activities: throwing, obstacle course, parachute, ball games, play equipment, skipping and running races of course! There were soooo many smiles and such wonderful, receptive behaviour from all. Thank you to all who managed to come along to spectate and enjoy the day. Bravo Kindergarten! The video below is a snippet of the fun we had. KLovely performed to their favourite song, 'Spanish Onion'. They did a magnificent job for their first time on stage. Thank you to all the families who came to watch and support our superstars! |
